Growing up in Lake Tahoe, Kai Lar Rieu forged a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors from a very young age. After moving to San Luis Obispo, Kai was inspired to explore agriculture through his family roots. Kai moved from San Luis Obispo to attend college at UCSC, where he worked in a Co-evolutionary biology Lab and the UCSC Arboretum, gaining farming and gardening skills. After taking some time away from UCSC to pursue entrepreneurial projects in agriculture, he returned to Monterey Bay to gain a B.S. in Agriculture Plant and Soil Science from CSUMB. Kai’s passion in life is to spread and teach sustainable farming techniques, he believes that sustainable farming and gardening is a crucial tool in securing a more holistic and sustainable future.
