A longtime MEarth collaborator, native plant enthusiast, organic gardener, culinary
conservationist, and local leader with a diverse professional network, Karin Stratton is
thrilled to officially join the Hilton Bialek Habitat Team! Her experience encompasses 25 +
years in the non-profit sector specializing in team leadership, environmental education,
sustainability, and community engagement. Karin’s career path includes San Diego Zoo’s
Safari Park, the New England Aquarium, and most recently the Monterey Bay
Aquarium.
Karin’s love of nature and wild places started at a very young age and blossomed over
time. She is a graduate of Colby College in Waterville, Maine, where she studied Biology
and Environmental Studies, a springboard for her career path and passions. Forever a
student, Karin has graduated from the Leadership Monterey Peninsula program and
completed The LEAD Institute through the Community Foundation for Monterey
County.
Since 2017, it has been Karin’s honor to serve her community through the Point Lobos
Foundation Board of Directors, where she has fulfilled several officer positions, currently
as Immediate Past President. Late winter and early spring are her favorite seasons to
hike Point Lobos because the native Ceanothus (California lilac) blooms are in full force,
providing a sea of periwinkle blossoms along many of the trails – a beautiful sight to
see!
A collaborative leader, Karin has always believed in the power of partnerships to ignite
conservation action. Through MEarth collaborations, programs, events, and community
engagement, she will continue to mobilize positive change for the natural world.
