The EcoCamp Leadership Program is an exciting opportunity for capable and fun-loving youth, who enjoy working with children, to take on leadership roles in our camps. EcoCamp Leaders (ECLs) assist MEarth instructors and staff in making camp a nurturing and joyful experience for all campers, while gaining leadership and eco-changemaking skills to apply to their own lives moving forward.

  • Daily Activities | Duties include helping set up in the morning, supporting the counselors while they lead the day’s activities, snack-making, buddying up with kids who need extra assistance, participating in songs and games, and generally having fun!
  • Application + Enrollment |First Round Review: April 28. Rolling-Review: Following. ECLs must be available Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm for their selected camp week.
  • Trainings + Leadership Support | Participation in the June 8 + June 9 ECL trainings is required for enrollment. During camp week, the ECL Coordinator directly supports ECLs as they build environmental literacy, leadership, and camper facilitation skills. A daily morning check-in and afternoon debrief give ECLs and staff an opportunity to track progress, troubleshoot, and provide additional support/inspiration.
  • Snacks | A seasonal, healthy, and delicious mid-morning snack will be prepared daily in our LEED-certified building kitchen with ingredients from our organic garden. Food allergy information must be listed in the ECL information packet, due from parents before the first day of camp.
  • Lunch | Parents are asked to provide ECLs with a zero-waste lunch, Monday – Thursday. On Friday of camp week, a family style lunch will be prepared and enjoyed by all campers, ECLs, and staff.
  • By the end of the week, ECLs will have learned: general knowledge and increased confidence with helping children learn and grow in outdoor environments; enhanced culinary skills and knowledge of sustainable food systems, through preparation of the daily snack, fresh from the garden; a greater appreciation and desire to become an eco-changemaker in their families, homes, and communities.
